Mobile RV Repair in Avon Park, Florida

Avon Park is the densest RV-resort stretch in Highlands County, and it is ten miles straight up US 27 from our Sebring base. The parks along the highway

The resorts here sit right on or just off US 27 and US 98, which run together through town. Lake Glenada RV Resort at 2525 US 27 South is a 23-acre lakefront community with 217 full-hookup RV and park-model sites plus a mobile home section, and it is under ten minutes from Sebring. Adelaide Shores RV Resort is at 2881 US 27 North. Bonnet Lake Campgrounds, a 55+ park on Bonnet Lake at 2825 FL-17, has 175 full-hookup RV and mobile home sites. Lake Bonnet Village on East Lake Bonnet Road is a 55+ co-op. Between them and the smaller parks, Avon Park holds a large share of the county’s winter RV population within a few miles of each other.

Avon Park is also the oldest city in the county, settled in 1884, with a 2020 population of 9,658 that grows noticeably when the winter residents arrive. Avon Park Air Force Range sits to the east, and South Florida State College is here. For a mobile tech, the practical facts are simpler: the parks are close together, most are full from November to April, and a lot of the rigs in them do not move for six months at a time.

What we see most in Avon Park rigs

Arrival-week failures. Rigs that towed in from the upper Midwest or came out of a wet Florida summer in storage arrive with flat batteries, water heaters that will not light because a mud dauber built a nest in the burner tube, and slides that grind on their first extension. Lakefront humidity. Lake Glenada and Bonnet Lake sites are on the water, and the air over a Florida lake in the muggy season is as wet as air gets. Rooftop AC condensate pans fill and clog, slide seals never dry, and lap sealant lifts from underneath. A rig that sat on a lakefront site through the summer needs its roof looked at in November whether or not there is a stain on the ceiling.

Lightning. Avon Park Air Force Range recorded a 69 mph gust when Hurricane Ian crossed the county in September 2022, but the everyday electrical threat here is the afternoon thunderstorm. Florida leads the nation in lightning density, and a strike near a park’s electrical service puts a surge through every pedestal on the loop. Converters are the usual casualty, AC and fridge boards next. We carry a spare converter on the truck for exactly this reason.

Park models and long-term setups. A meaningful slice of Avon Park living is the rig that stopped being a vehicle years ago: skirted, with a Florida room built on, planted. Those units cannot go to a shop even in theory, so everything from the water heater to the 12V panel is mobile-service-or-nothing. That is us.

How a visit works out here

Book with the park name and site number; “site 140 at Lake Glenada” gets the truck to your door, and an address on US 27 alone does not. We check in at the office as your visitor, follow park speed limits and quiet hours, and call ahead so you know when we are rolling. Owners who fly home for the summer can have work done remotely: photo documentation, phone approval on the written quote, and video function tests are normal for our Avon Park customers.

The standard trip fee covers Avon Park proper. Frostproof, another eleven miles up US 27 into Polk County, is priced by mileage and quoted before we roll.
