Wauchula had 4,900 people at the 2020 census. It once called itself the cucumber capital of the world; citrus took over decades ago, and groves still surround the town. Peace River is a membership-style park, which means a mix of short-stay members and long-term winter residents, an older campground layout with a lot of tree cover, and, per the resort’s own listing, some sites without sewer hookups. Tree cover matters for a mobile tech: it means shade, which is good for the AC, and leaf litter on the roof and in the AC condenser, which is not.

Roofs under trees. A wooded site keeps the sun off, and it also keeps the roof wet longer after each rain and drops leaves and oak pollen into every vent, seam, and condensate pan. AC condensate and coils. Leaf litter and pollen pack the rooftop condenser and clog the pan drains. Water through the ceiling under the AC is one of the most common calls from wooded parks, and it is a cleaning job, not a roof reseal.

Storm flooding. When Hurricane Ian stalled over the peninsula in September 2022, Hardee County took more than 18 inches of rain and the Peace River crested at a record 27.3 feet; 99 roads were closed and the county ran 115 boat rescues. A rig that sat on a low site through that took water into the underbelly, the tanks, and the 12V wiring under the floor. If your rig was in Hardee County for Ian and nobody has looked underneath since, that is worth a visit on its own.

Generators. Peace River is exactly the kind of park where a generator sits unused for months and then gets asked to run for three days after a storm. Ethanol fuel varnishes the carburetor over a wet summer; the fix is a carburetor clean, $250 to $900 depending on what else it needs, and it is far better done in October than during the outage.
